Premium Japan Bancha Green Tea

An excellent example of Japanese Bancha Tea which, for many in Japan, is a tea consumed daily. Mature green leaves pressed flat with a fresh grassy aroma. The infused liquor features the aroma of grass, hay, and flowers. Bancha is one of many great Japanese tea varieties. Our Bancha comes from the Uji, Kyoto region of Japan.
A long time ago, tea was considered a luxury for the affluent. To provide an affordable tea for the “commoner,” tea growers harvested remaining tea leaves that were otherwise deemed unfit for tea by the upper class. Some would go as far as describing tea leaves used to produce Bancha as “scrappy” or “leftovers” because the tea leaves are considered lower grade.
Over time, Bancha became a typical go-to green tea consumed all over Japan. The modern tea cultivation and processing industries perfected tea growing, bringing a scrappy, low-grade tea into the mainstream of the tea-drinking community. Many Japanese think of Bancha tea as an everyday tea to enjoy.
